Look at the appearance of the wire

After we get the wires, the first thing we can do is to look at the appearance of the wires. Including the packaging of the wires and the appearance of the wire insulation.

The first point to look at the appearance is to look at the wire packaging. The package of the wire should have all the parameters of the wire, the certificate of conformity and the implementation standard. Then open the wire package and look at the insulation mark of the wire. There should be a clear mark on the outside of the insulation layer, including the manufacturer's mark, the wire diameter model, and so on.

The trick here is that if we find that the logo is vague, or even not, we don’t need to know whether the logo is correct, we just need to know if the logo is unclear. All wires with ambiguous marks are definitely not a qualified product. This method is very simple, right?

Look at the wire diameter

The second tip is to check the copper core of the wire, which is the core. Because the quality of a wire actually has two points, one is the insulation layer, and the other is the core of the wire. The insulation layer ensures the insulation resistance value of the wire; and the core of the wire is to ensure the current carrying capacity of the wire.

We can strip the wire out until the copper inside is exposed. If we find that the copper wire is purple, the so-called red copper, the quality is good; in addition, we can also bend the copper wire with our hands. If it feels soft, it means that it is a good wire. Conversely, we found that the copper wire is yellow, so it is brass, and there are other impurities in it, and the quality is not good; in addition, when we bend the copper wire, if we feel that the copper wire is very hard, then this kind of wire It is a poor quality wire.

Measure the wire diameter of the wire

Although the wire diameter of the current wire is not the only standard for testing the qualification of a wire, it is also a reference. We can use a vernier caliper or a micrometer to measure the wire diameter. Take the 2.5 square copper core wire most commonly used in our family as an example. The wire diameter of this 2.5 square copper core wire is basically above 1.72 at present. That is to say, if the wire diameter of the 2.5 square wire you measured is less than 1.72 mm, then it is basically unqualified.

The method of measuring the wire diameter is actually very simple. We take a piece of wire and then strip off the outer insulation of the wire. Then I can use a vernier caliper or a micrometer to measure. And now there is that kind of digital vernier caliper, which is very simple, and you can read it by yourself when you attach it to the card. We can measure it ourselves, and this method is also very practical.

Detection resistance performance

Many high-rise buildings now use flame-retardant wires, not ordinary wires. This kind of wire is required to be flame retardant, that is, the fire resistance is very high, and we also need to pay attention to this.

The detection method of the resistance performance is very simple. Just take a piece of wire, then we use a lighter to light it, and then turn off the lighter. At this time, let's observe whether the insulation layer of the wire will automatically extinguish. If it is extinguished, then it is flame-retardant and qualified; if it is not extinguished, then it is an unqualified product.
